Calibration GasesOne of the many features of ECOM analyzers is the ease of calibration. Calibration gas is a useful tool if you want to periodically check and calibrate your ECOM analyzer to maintain its accuracy level well after it leaves our facility. Calibrating your ECOM analyzer is a very simple process, and ensuring proper calibration helps to maintain a high degree of accuracy for your emission testing. Cal gas may also be used as a diagnostic tool to find air leaks and identify sensor inaccuracies. For these reasons, having cal gas on hand tends to decrease maintenance costs. ECOM offers a wide range of calibration gas concentrations suitable for emission testing and protocols. Along with the following gases, we also supply the necessary regulators and accessory kits: Carbon Monoxide (CO), Nitric Oxide (NO), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), and Methane (CH4). Custom mixes and other concentrations not listed here are available upon request. We recommend that you choose a concentration of each individual gas, according to your requirements, which most closely matches the expected levels of emissions from your combustion source. |

How often should I calibrate my ECOM analyzer?
There is no "one-size-fits-all" solution to how often you should calibrate your ECOM analyzer. There are a few very important items to consider, however. First, are you following an air permit, state agency, or company protocol which requires a specific calibration procedure? If so, you will need to follow those guidelines. For ECOM users that do not have a specific protocol to follow, ECOM recommends calibrating prior to each emission test to maintain the highest degree of accuracy. If you do not want or need to calibrate before every test, you will need to calibrate occasionally or send your unit to ECOM at least once every 6 months. If you plan to calibrate the ECOM yourself, it will be necessary to determine which calibration frequency works for your application. For instance you may start out by calibrating weekly, then if you find that the sensors are not drifting at all, you can push it out a little further, perhaps monthly. This type of trial-and-error is necessary until you determine the best calibration frequency for your application. Also keep in mind that older sensors, longer test times, and higher concentrations of emissions may lead to more frequent calibrations. If you have any questions regarding calibration, do not hesitate to call ECOM and speak to one of our application experts.
